Lesson (55) / فقه انجلش

Lesson (55)
Fadl/Thawab of (reward for) ablution
• On the authority of Aby-huraira who reported the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) as saying, “On the Day of Resurrection, my followers will be called "Al-ghurr-ul-muhajjaleen" from the trace of ablution, so whoever can increase the area of his ghurra (and tahjeel) should do so.” (Reported by Muslem)
Explanation of the prophetic tradition:
“Ghurr” is the plural of “Agharr”. It refers to the horse with the white mark on its face increasing its beauty. It is also used for notability and good mention. Here, it refers to the brightness which will be on the faces of the people of Prophet Muhammad’s nation on the Day of Judgment.
“Muhajjaleen” is derived from the word “Tahjeel” and it also refers to the white hair on the legs of a horse.
“Ghurra” and “Tahjeel” are signs of the high breed of a horse and its purity. Not every horse has ghurra and tahjeel. But here it refers to the brightness and whiteness on the face, hands, and feet of Muslems from the trace of ablution.
In short, ghurra is the brightness of the face, while tahjeel is the brightness or whiteness of hands and feet.
To be among “ghurr” and “muhajjaleen” Whoever can extend his ghurra and tahjeel in ablution should do so by making the water cover more area than what is required to perform the obligations in ablution. To extend ghurra (in the face), one can wash part of one’s hair, ears, and neck. To extend tahjeel (in the hands and feet), one can wash part of the upper arm and leg.
• On the authority of Othman Ebn-Affan who reported the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) as saying, “He who performs ablution well, his sins would come out from his body, even coming out from under his nails.” (Reported by Muslem)
• On the authority of Othman Ebn-Affan who said, “I saw the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) performing ablution the way I did then said, 'He who performs ablution like this will have his past sins forgiven and his prayer and walking to the mosque will be nafela (extra or supererogatory act) (in another narration by Ebn-Abdo: I came to Othman so he performed ablution).’ ” (Reported by Muslem)
• On the authority of Aby-huraira who reported the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) as saying, “When a Muslem or a believer washes his face (in course of ablution), every sin he contemplated with his eyes will be washed away from his face along with water, or with the last drop of water; when he washes his hands, every sin they made will be effaced from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of water until he is purified from sins; and when he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet have walked will be washed away with the water, or with the last drop of water, with the result that he comes out pure from all sins.” (Reported by Muslem)
• The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “Shall I not tell you of something by which Allah erases sins and elevates darajat (ranks)?" They said, ‘Of course, O Messenger of Allah!’ He said, “Esbagh (Perfecting) of ablution even when it is difficult to do so, going towards mosques very often, and waiting for the next prayer after offering one. This is ribat. That is ribat (struggle or effort for the sake of Allah).” (Reported by Muslem)
• The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “Purity (Purification) is one half of eman (faith).” (Reported by Muslem)
• On the authority of Omar Ebn-El-khattab who reported the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) as saying, “Whoever performs ablution well then says: I testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger, the eight gates of Paradise would be opened for him and he may enter through whichever of them he wishes.” (Reported by Muslem, Attermezy added “O Allah! Make me among those who constantly repent to You and make me among those who purify themselves. (Allahum-maj-a’lnee minat-taw-wabeen waja’lnee minal mutatahereen))
