First: the haram (forbidden) types of food and drinks that get into the human body:
They are all mentioned in Surat Al-maeda- verse 3:
“Forbidden to you are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which has been invoked the name of other than Allah; that which has been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal; unless you are able to slaughter it (in due form); that which is sacrificed on stone (altars); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows: that is impiety. This day have those who reject faith given up. All hope of religion: yet fear them not but fear me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed my favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, Allah is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
a- Dead meat, in Arabic al-mayta, that is, meat of animal not slaughtered in the manner prescribed by Sharea’a (Islamic law), including the following:
1- Al-mayta of a wild animal that is halal, that is, any animal that dies without being slaughtered according to Sharea’a
2- Any part cut from a living animal as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, “any portion cut out of a living animal is considered mayta.”
An exception is dead fish and locust as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, “Two types of dead meat and two types of blood have been made halal for our consumption: fish, locust, liver, and spleen.” (Related by Eshshafe’y, Ahmad, and Ebn-majah)
An exception of this is the nails, horns, bones, and fur of dead animals, according to the majority of jurists.
b- The animals killed by strangling including those killed by choking gas
c- The animals killed by a violent blow including those killed by electricity
d- The animals killed by a headlong fall, that is, falling from height
e- The animals killed by being gored to death by a similar animal such as sheep or pecking of cocks
f- The animals (partly) eaten by a wild animal even trained dogs except for those slaughtered before death
